Lessons from a Cave - Psalm 57

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.  Psalm 57:1

A significant part of David’s isolation was spent in a cave. Perhaps like the cave above in the picture I took in Israel. Our tour guide felt there was good reason to believe that David had taken refuge here.  Psalm 57 & 142 were both written in a cave. It is my prayer that a study of these psalms will fill you with the same hope and faith that David had during times of isolation and crisis.

One of two extremes usually happens during times of isolation.  Either we draw closer to God or distance ourselves from him. As an introduction to Psalm 57, take time to read all the verses. How is this experience drawing David closer to God? Which words or phrases indicate that?
