SWIRLS OF NURTURE

Sometimes I feel like a creator, sometimes I feel like a teacher,  sometimes I feel like a worshipper,
sometimes I just feel three worlds swirling, colliding, morphing into new worlds . .
. . . yet with each swirl the need to nurture . . .
. . . nurture midst fragile creations, vulnerable artists, emotive questioning soundscapes, wondering and wandering thoughts, midst a church wondering how to create in the image of the One who created all.

DON’T LET CORONAVIRUS DIVIDE THE CHURCH

Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!  Psalm 133:1

Because we are all different, we have a wide range of opinions, ideas and emotions concerning the coronavirus. In such a polarizing environment, how can churches move forward in beautiful unity rather than ugly division?

By placing the interests of others above  our own interests! You may find it difficult or irritating to have to wear a mask during church and stay six feet away from everyone at all times. You may see most restrictions as a needless overreaction.  But can you not sacrifice your ideal out of love for others who believe the precautions are necessary? Even if you think it cowardly for someone to stay home after the church is open again, you need to respect the concern of others. Likewise, if you think the lockdowns should continue do not pass judgment on those who question the government’s ongoing restrictions.

Now is the time to honour people on both sides of the spectrum according to the principles in Romans 14.  Because of space, only the key verses are included here.  Please read the whole chapter.

One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; or it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”

So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. . . For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil.  For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.
 Romans 14:5, 10-12, 13, 15-19
