SWIRLS OF NURTURE

Sometimes I feel like a creator, sometimes I feel like a teacher,  sometimes I feel like a worshipper,
sometimes I just feel three worlds swirling, colliding, morphing into new worlds . .
. . . yet with each swirl the need to nurture . . .
. . . nurture midst fragile creations, vulnerable artists, emotive questioning soundscapes, wondering and wandering thoughts, midst a church wondering how to create in the image of the One who created all.

God keeps count of our wanderings

You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book? Psalm 56:8

This amazing verse makes it clear that God notices and cares about any trauma that we experience. Would you describe your life as an aimless, often out-of-control wandering as you seek safety, escaping one danger after another? The Hebrew word David uses for wanderings describes the many years of traumatic uncertainty when fleeing from King Saul. The specific situation that he found himself in when he wrote Psalm 65 is described in 1 Samuel 21:10-22:1.

And David rose and fled that day from Saul and went to Achish the king of Gath. And the servants of Achish said to him, “Is not this David the king of the land? Did they not sing to one another of him in dances, ‘Saul has struck down his thousands, and David his ten thousands’?” And David took these words to heart and was much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. So he changed his behavior before them and pretended to be insane in their hands and made marks on the doors of the gate and let his spittle run down his beard. Then Achish said to his servants, “Behold, you see the man is mad. Why then have you brought him to me? Do I lack madmen, that you have brought this fellow to behave as a madman in my presence? Shall this fellow come into my house?”  David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam.

God is not only aware of the chaotic moments of your life, he numbers them! This knowledge comforted David and led him to say the following:
”This I know, that God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Psalm 56:9-11

May this knowledge also comfort you. If you put your trust in God, you need not fear! He will help you.
