Importance of Others in Healing

Look for ways to connect with others. You may feel like being alone but it is important to look for ways to connect with others,  Connecting with others will help you recover. Isolation will slow your recovery.

Scripture reminds us of the importance of others.
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up . . . 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Of course, it is important to be cautious and think about how connecting with someone affects you.  Not all connections may be good for you.  Monitor the effects on you.  If the negative effects are great, you may want to reconsider.  But because you may be with others that are also experiencing trauma, some negative effects are to be expected.

Connecting to others is a risk worth taking even when you don’t feel like doing it. It will help your healing!
