Joy and Grief

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Philippians 4:4

Paul challenges us to believe that joy can be present despite grief. The apostle Peter does as well. In his letter, he helps us understand the relationship between joy and grief.
In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,  so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.  Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:6-9

Notice the following:
— Joy allows us to survive trying times by reminding us we’re still loved and cared for no matter what direction our daily life takes.
— We can rejoice even while trials grieve us.
— We rejoice because testing produces a faith more precious than gold.
— The testing of our faith brings us praise, glory and  honor.
— Believing in Jesus brings inexpressible joy.
— Joy is knowing God is in control of all the details of my life.
— Joy is the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be alright.
— Joy is the decision to praise God in every situation.
